OK fixed it, i think, you have to check the box that says "special logon"

It just looks like an information screen - how do i use it to lower my sysnc rate to make my line more sttable. I want to lower it from 4174 to about 3.8MB

Tried to connect again - just said too many error - tried again different error this time: cannot establish modem type

      - this tool seems to unstable to me. it only look like information you can get from your router anyway - so what is the point of it??

DMT v8 has a different display to the one which works with the speedtouch, and I've never used the tool before. It doesn't help that the forum is in german either. You can always login to telnet and edit it manually: adslctl configure --snr %ofcurrentsnr

edit: router arrived about 15 mins ago. Not activated until the 20th, so I've got some time to play around.
