      Remove old modem ?

      Hi all,

Been reading this site with interest, whilst waiting for my connection and it's been a BIG help already - thanks everyone. Collecting my router from Parceline on Monday and supposed to be migrated to Sky Broadband by Wednesday.

On the subject of the router, probably a silly question, but I'm going to ask it anyway !!....

I am currently with Orange (since Freeserve days) and have a Speedtouch modem (you know, those little turquoise stingray things) connected via usb. Do I need to remove this and uninstall anything before connecting netgear ? Also, do I need to do anything in Tools - Internet Options - Connection within IE ?

      Many thanks

it would be best to disconnect and uninstall any speedtouch software but only when your connection goes dead hopefully on wednesday and welcome to the site

Basically remove anything that refers to freeserve/orange or whatever.
Just leave i.e. as never dial a connection and on the LAN settings none of the boxes checked.
