Try installing Mosseywells Bounce Router at least your router will boot automatically and you may not even notice it. The easiest way, is to install it then drag a shortcut to it into your Startup folder

Also try turning off the UPnP

Towards the bottom of that shows you where it is.

      Re: sky router problems

If turning uPNP off dosen't help then extract your detailed stats and post them here using the proceedure below. I wouldn't use bounce until you have investigated and tried to cure the problem.

Go to the utility web site: Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4
Click the “Get” detailed modem stats button and click “OK”.
Enter the router login user name and password.
At the next screen, click the back button on your browser.
      Click the “Download” netgear.cfg button.
What you do next depends on your operating system. On Windows XP, click the “Save” button to save the file to your hard disk. (If you click “Open”, you may find that the file association is one that doesn’t handle carriage returns the same way as the router, hence the reason for saying “Save”.)
Open the file in WordPad (not notepad).

      Re: sky router problems

5 Mins is not nearly enough time for accurate stats. You must run it for several hours and do some heavy downloading. Also what package are you on, your profile says Base, but I don't think that is correct.

      Re: sky router problems

^ Correct you need to run for at least a couple of hours, the longer the better to build up stats over a period of time, When I had my problems the CRC errors would occur in sudden bursts every couple of hours, usually causing a slow in speed or loss of connection.

Hi guys I have the same problem as above but my router drops off after only a couple of minutes. Is it possible to make the connection more stable in order to post my stats after a couple of hours ???

      Thanks in advance

Have you tried plugging into the test socket behind the faceplate of your BT master socket?
