      Exclamation Restoring Firmware!!

i know this may sound strange to some people why i would want to change back but i recently changed my firmware from skys V1.02.28 to netgears V1.02.04. i was wondering if there is a way to change it back as my speeds have dropped significantly since changing or if anyone knows where i can download the V1.02.28 firmware and use the installer to upgrade again. any help would be much appreciated.

      Re: Restoring Firmware!!

The sky firmware should be on the sky cd that came with the router.
Some forum members suggest copying this firmware onto your HD, then ensuring it is not 'read only' prior to using the same method you used for flashing it to Netgear firmware.

      Re: Restoring Firmware!!

The firmware is not on the Sky CD. Sky gave out the box with a fixed firmware, and the only way to get it updated is when Sky have an update available. However, you wont get that now, as you've changed your firmware.

I dont think there is a way to get the original firmware back ona the box.

edit; the Sky CD does not install the router to your computer, contrary to popular belief. thats the whole ppint of a router, you dont need to install it to the computer.

If you have taken teh Sky firmware off, you have voided any warranty you have with Sky. So now, if you need a replacement, you'll need to pay for it. This sort of thing is not covered under warranty, and if you send it back, Sky can tell that its been damaged

      Re: Restoring Firmware!!

I've just checked our CD and the Utilities folder contains the Recovery Utility including an IMG file which is almost certainly a backup for the firmware.

Try it and see -- the standard Netgear firmware's user interface has an update facility which allows you to download the IMG file.
