      Speed Dropping

Evenin fellas, and ladies lurking out there. Someting strange is going on with my router. I noticed my Downstream Speed is dropping like a lead baloon everytime I have to reboot the router. It started up at 7000+ and is now down to 6720. Is this normal?

      *EDIT*

I just tried a hard reboot as opposed to soft, its now gone up to 6752. This seems very strange indeed

I think that is quite normal, your connection is 'rate adaptive', which means it will give you the fastest stable speed the line permits. This can vary a bit over a short space of time. Actually, I would not call dropping from 7000 to 6720 'like a lead balloon'. That is only a small variation.

more like a feather, a lead balloon would be something much higher im sure whats happening to you is normal and is probly changing because of the fluctuating noise margin

Being a little pedantic, that's true in that Connect uses an exchange based rate adaption process but Raiden's profile says he's on Base. Base in common with all Sky's LLU products does not have a working rate adaption process. What he/she describes is a rate change on reboot which isn't the same thing and is completely normal.

However, a sync speed of 7000kbps certainly isn't normal for Base so who knows

I actually forgot to change that. Im on max. Another thing it keeps doing is dropping me out of msn. Anyone else had a similar problem?

OOps, I didn't notice he was on Base, or Max as it turns out.
