      Exclamation Limited or no connectivity

      Hi,

Any one experience an issue where a wireless laptop works fine but a ethernet wired connection often give "limited or no connectivity" message. Powering down both the PC and router fixes this issue (for a while).

I've tried hard coding the IP address, subnet mask etc... with no luck... UPnP is disabled... but I'm stumped... any ideas???

      cheers

      Re: Limited or no connectivity

I know it is simple but make sure the plugs to the router and PC are pushed fully home and locked in position. I had this problem with one of my PCs a while back and it turned out, that the little bit that locks the plug into the socket was worn and was allowing the plug to slip out just enough to loose the connection.

You could also try uninstalling and re-installing with the latest network card drivers, just in case these have become corrupted.

      Re: Limited or no connectivity

It's definately the router as I've tried other cables and other PC's....

Sky say it's because McAfee's not running; I said BOSH to that wouldn't make a difference

i had a similar problem but the other way round. one of my wireless laptops showed 'limited or no connectivity' but on ethernet cable all was fine. so, wired it to ethernet went into router config page checked settings (all were fine) pressed save and apply and all has been fine wirelessly since!!!
have no idea why i had the problem or even how i cured it????????

      Re: Limited or no connectivity

Change it to wep and see if it continues, if it does change the channel if it still continues disable all security on the wireless and enable mac authentication.

If it still does it, make sure your wireless aint set to go into power saving modes, if it continues reinstall the wireless drivers check for an update first. if it continues phone tech support or seek further advice here.

      Re: Limited or no connectivity

I am having the same problem - help appreciated!

I've set up the router and connection on my PC via cable and using a laptop over wireless. The wireless works fine, but the PC doesn't connect switching from no to limited connectivity periodically. The "1" symbol flashes randomly

I've tried to reset router etc but no luck! Help!

      Cheers

      Re: Limited or no connectivity

It looks like the fault may be with your PC Network card. Look at the Internet Protocol Properties and make sure it is set to 'Obtain IP address automatically' It could be that your NIC is on it's way out. Take the ethernet plug out of your PC and put it in one of the other ports in the router. It should light both lights steady. If one or both flicker, then the cable is faulty.

If you are using a USB adapter on your laptop, try it in your PC. If it works OK it rules out any setting, other than the NIC, causing problems.
