      Hi all,

Further info : I've tried it in the test socket and the SNR goes up to 10.1db! Router stats compared with previous show a massive reduction in CRC / ES, so I think the microfilter was a bit of a red herring, looks like your suspicions were correct, i've got a wiring issue. I'll be on adslnation tonight, ordering a couple of pre-filtered face plates. ;-)

Thanks a lot for your help

Re: Frequent drop in effective speed, sync speed stays the same

I decided to try and improve my SkyMAX speed (14000 and slightly below) by upgrading my BT ADSL faceplate (V1.0) to the ADSLnation faceplate.

For those contemplating this upgrade, it made no difference, other than to my bank balance.

This will only help if you have poor extension wiring, it is not a go-faster trick. It is also much tidier than having dangly bits hanging out of your phone sockets. Apart from that, with 14000 kbps, you have very little room for improvement, unless you are very close to the exchange.
