Re: im connected am i on ADSL2

firstly reboot your router as the 15.5db line attenuation is wrong (it sometimes reports that as a bug).

Then you should get your true attenuation.

Pop the true attenuation in DSL ZoneUK - How fast can I get on ADSL2+? to see what possible speed you may get.

Then use mognuts util in my sig to get your detailed router stats and post these.

Re: im connected am i on ADSL2

okay, so that shows that your are definitely not on ADSL2+.

However you attenuation is still showing 15.5, so did you reboot the router? (I'm guessing yes based on the connection time).

Until you get the true attenuation, we won;t be able to comment if it is worth your while trying to get moved to ADSL2+. Try rebooting a few times to see if it can pick up the true figure.

Re: im connected am i on ADSL2

Well you *should* be able to get 10-14Mb with that.

Leave your router on for 24 hrs and post back detailed stats again tomorrow (copy and paste the whole lot like first time around) so we can see of your line is reporting any errors.

If it isn't (or if they are low) then you need to get onto to Sky to switch you onto ADSL2+ with no cap.

You have a healthy noise margin and for the 25 mins that your router was on your stats showed no line errors (although I'm no expert on how to determine errors!), so it looks positive.

Remember that capped at 60% of the potential speed with a noise margin of 10+db and on G.DMT, any errors shown will be greatly less than when uncapped on ADSL2+ and won't necessarily show or prove a thing. After all, that's why capping is done - to reduce errors. Trying to assess errors on a capped line is always going to be problematical. I suspect there will be some as the noise margin isn't all that high.

Sorry to butt in but I'd suggest the best course of action would be to assess the level of noise on the line by comparison with the test socket, fix any problems found and then get uncapped.
