      Very strange speed issue.

      Hi Peeps

Got a very strange issue with my sky download speeds. Been with sky for about 7 months, with a modem pulling around 3mb d/l with a very rare reset required once every few months.

Now my problems began a fortnight ago where my speed has drop to around 60k dl however my upload speed remains the same. Tried all the usual resets, master socket, pc reboots etc etc however no change.

Sky insist my line looks ok and there is nothing they can do about it!!!

In desperation i cracked out an old router i have lying around and entered in my sky details. Bam back dowloading the way it should be however if i revert back to the sky router tis the same problem¬

Anyone have any ideas why this would be the case? Im loosing my hair here lol

yet another piece of evidence for the 'netgear router is crap' case....you can either get a replacement bb box from Sky or just use your old one - just revert to your old one if you need tech support because we won't support other makes of router

Have you tried the 'Sky Test' on the Router status page? It does look like your box has gone 'toes up'. 60k is not an acceptable speed for broadband, CS must give you some assistance.

      Re: Very strange speed issue.

yep i have tried the sky test and all seems to be ok.

All sky will say is that i need to format my pc to which i replie all three of them? Skys answer "yes"

Having a larrrrfff fella lol. They inform that my line is ok and my speed is showing as correct there end. Problem i have is i cant tell them that another router works fine lol.

what to do is the questiony

Why not tell a little white lie and say that the wireless does not work? Ie no matter what you tick the little green light does not go on?

I think from what you say it is definitely the router that's at fault.

Not that I condone lying, but at least you may get a new one and a service that works and make sure you send the old one back, so Sky are no worse off.

      Re: Very strange speed issue.

Another little fib you can try is to say you borrowed a friends Sky Router and it works perfect, so yours must be faulty. You would not be breaking the T&Cs, but better still if you could actually borrow a Sky router
