      DNS/Ports

Help !!!! - trying to sort out a connection problem - IE will not display any pages and when running the diagnostics therough IE it comes back with that the firewall is preventing access on the following PORTS HTTPS(80),(443) and FTP (21 ) - have switched of Windows firewall and un-installed Zone Alarms - ping works ok although I cannot get to the router pages via 192.168.0.1 - invalid address ?
Have manually selected alternative DNS IP's and made no difference ?

      Any one help me ?

      Try:

Open IE, Tools at the top, then Internet Options, Connections, Make sure never dial an Internet connection is ticked, click on Lan settings, make sure the top 2 tick boxes are unticked, and also make sure use a proxy server is unticked, then click on OK and then OK.

      See if that helps.

      Re: DNS/Ports

Thanks Newsreader - sorry its taken so long to come reply, tried what you suggested and made no difference - in the end I did a system restore ( back to Novemebr 06 !!! ) and it appears to be OK - I am really curuios though to understand what the problem was. The reason I went back that far was that in event viewer it showed a problem at that point in sorm form of comms with DHCP ? - I am not a techie at all - I guessed that it was an update for something that had done it ( its my mother-in-laws PC so I have not had a chance to do much else with it )
      Thanks for your suggestion though.
