      Router Connection to Telephone socket

If you have 3 telephone sockets in the house is it necessary to have the router plugged in to the master telephone socket, otherwise you wont get a connection? (This is what CS have advised but it worked ok on other sockets with my previous supplier Pipex).

      thanks

Master socket is preferable -- see tutorials.

It depends how good your extension wiring is, Poor extension wiring can cause the router to log line errors, causing drop outs and reductions in speed, which is why Sky will always recommend to plug into the master, but if things work fine plugged into an extension then dont worry about it.
One thing to note is that my previous connection was with BT 2mb and it working fine plugged into an extension, when I went to 8mb with Sky I ran into problems, almost daily disconnections etc. Of course I blamed Sky, it took me 3 months to find out it was my crap wiring, it just didn't like the faster speeds. Plugged into the master everything now working fine.
