      Lock-up problem

Ok I've only had Sky Broadband a week, had terebble download speeds and lots of lost connections but after some help from tier 3 tech support it seems more stable now, had to drop my 8mb line to 4mb to do this though

Anyway, I'm tring to download a patch for a game I play, at first the download speeds are good but after a while it freezes and locks up my PC, the only way out is a re-start, I thought it was my wirless PCI adapter at first but I get the same problem when using a network cable, it sometimes happens while I'm just surfing.

Why would a dropped connection cause my pc to lock-up ?

      Re: Lock-up problem

It sounds like your line may be generating a large number of errors which will make the connection "choke" and grind to a halt.

If you post your full stats using Mognuts utility (see Tech forum sticky) then we may be able to see what's going on. Reboot your router then run it hard until the problem hits then take the stats.

      Re: Lock-up problem

I've sort of fixed it, took out my WG311T PCI adaptor and uninstalled the Netgear software, downloaded the file without a hitch using a network cable.

Looks like a hardware conflict of maybe a driver problem, I'll try with the adaptor in a different PCI slot, if that doesn't work i'll try an older driver and maybe let Netgear magange my connection rather than windows
