    backing up router firmware

    This is a discussion on backing up router firmware within the Sky Router forums, part of the Sky Broadband help category; Ok ive seen plenty of posts on how to flash the router with different firmware and restoring from the CD, ...

      backing up router firmware

      Ok ive seen plenty of posts on how to flash the router with different firmware and restoring from the CD, however is it possible to backup the current firmware from the router to your PC?? I seem to have chucked out my CD Im thinking of trying out one of the custom firmwares, but want to have a backup just incase the poo hits the fan

      If you go into the routers web page (http://192.168.0.1), scroll down to maintenance -> backup settings and click the backup button, you can backup your current settings to your PC or USB, and also restore settings (including factory) from there as well.

      Sorry my mistake - the above is for the router settings.

      Don't know 'bout firmware

      yea..but that doesnt include the username and password as its built into the firmware..no way of backing that up ?

      Why do you want to flash it? I did mine because of issues but made no difference, problems were elsewhere. Back to Sky firmware now.
