      On the big Day

This is my first post, so a big Hi! to all, signed up for Sky Max last weekend and received router, user name, password and an activation date of the 19th this morning.
Tell me, is it a case of just plugging the router in on the morning of the 19th and then waiting for the happy occasion to happen?

      Re: On the big Day

Hi, you can always plug the router in beforehand as usually the date given is the last date and quite often it is activated before then.

Out of curiosity, if you use a line checker now like the one on this link

      DSL ZoneUK - Broadband checker

does it say your line is already activated?

I only ordered mine 2 days ago and already various line checkers say it has already been activated (quite possible as BT are doing lots of work in the exchange at present)

      Re: On the big Day

Sorry, maybe I should have put a bit more into my first post. Iím migrating from BT to Sky Max so that link still shows me as being on BT Openworld. Been with BT since ADSL first started so this is a big step for me! But got tired of BTís slower and slower speeds and next to no help from Tech support. So voting for BT with my feet.

      Re: On the big Day

The login details they sent you are only to access there web services and email. The actual login details for the broadband are already programed into the router so yep its just a case of plug in on the day and wait. You will soon know something is happening when your BT connection goe's dead. I went to Sky from BT in November and apart from some teething problems all fixed with the help of this forum I might add! I am really happy with the broadband.

BTW dont expect much from Sky customer service they are as bad if not worse than BT, If you have any problems make this web site your first port of call.

Well today should of been the day! As yet, still on BT. Got to look on the bright side, at least I've not been disconnected from BT and left with nothing Guess I better allow for the 3 extra days for the work to be carried out as per letter from Sky.

      JT_Mech, Pretty similar to me.
My date was the 19th, got home form work to find no internet from BT so plugged in the Sky router and away we went (fingers crossed)
