As the Sky Q boxes have Bluetooth it may be that the wireless remote interface has been implemented by this technology and not WiFi. I'm assuming that the Sky Q App. uses DLNA which isn't easily translated into direct keypad operation. Do you know whether the Sky Q App. (with BlueTooth switched off) is able to bring the box out of standby? If it can then it may be possible by examining a WireShark data capture to find a way ahead.

As the Sky Q app is today, there is no remote control function within the app. As the app is acting as a viewing device for all sky channels and all your recorded content, there really is no need for a remote.
When you use the sky+ app it prompts you to use the sky Q app.
All you can do with the sky+ app is browse all the programme content, tv guide, catchup, boxsets and set a recording. Still useful for remote record.
The sky 2tb boxes have two remotes, the touch one is Bluetooth, the standard one is IR.
The minis have only a standard remote with IR. They have no Bluetooth.

Re: Sky Q - How many cables from dish

      Found a bug.
Only happens on a Sky Q mini.
      Home>Online Video>Apps>Youtube

The Youtube app freezes when using it.
Using the dismiss button does nothing, a recycle of the Mini is the only way to recover.
Got my neighbours to try and they have the same.
Noticed quite a lot having the same issue on the sky community forum.

Youtube app works very well indeed on the Sky 2tb box with no issues.

I had the missing thumbnails on the mini problem, rebooted the silver and all OK again.

Other than that, rock solid so far.

Re: Sky Q - How many cables from dish

First UHD football match to watch today, nice to have it and looks good. Can't wait for next year F1 in UHD.

The picture quality with Sky Q across all channels shows a big improvement over sky+hd on a uhd tv, hd tv, via the slingbox and the sky q app on tablets and phones.
Best though is to have the hd from the mini in the bedroom instead of the coax and magic eye setup.
