Sky Q Box (TV) Firmware Versions

      Hi folks,

In a small effort to help you keep up to date with which firmware is being rolled out and what is on the DR Stream for the Sky Q range of TV boxes, we have composed the table below.

There are some gaps and we would appreciate any feedback to help complete those. If there are future updates that you spot before this table gets updated, please let us know and one of the SkyUser team of moderators will update the table.

Please also discuss any faults/problems in other threads.

To find out the make and model of your STB, please look at the back panel of your Sky Q box. To check the firmware version, using your remote control, please do the following:

      From home screen (Q Silver)
Settings > System Info > Software Version

To check the latest software on Sky Q Mini
Home> Settings > System Info > Software Version, then Setup and it prompts from there on.

      Thank you.

Re: Sky Q Box (TV) Firmware Versions

20L has started rolling out - a number of people on the sky help forum have reported updates on their silver boxes the last couple of days. No word yet on a changelog though! It seems to have fixed the Dolby digital sound dropouts for some.

Re: Sky Q Box (TV) Firmware Versions

Do these FW updates come down the pipe and install automatically or is this a manual operation?
If it's manual how do you go about doing it? Where, how etc.?

It will come down automatically eventually.
      But to manually force it use;
      Home>Settings>System Info>Software Version>Setup>Software Download
      Then choose select.

See that there are two hardware versions of the skyq silver box, 32B056 and 32B057.
Both have been getting this new firmware.
As well as fixes for issues on third party broadband routers (not sky q hub), this firmware release has also fixed bugs for HDMI and Dolby Digital issues apparently and the Sky Q mini glitches with the tv guide.

My experience is the manual force does not always work not you get it when Sky deem your box should get it

That said I've just received firmware 21.L via the manual process

so looks like 20.L is old hat now

Re: Sky Q Box (TV) Firmware Versions

New firmware arrived for all Sky q silver and minis (ES140 an ES150) overnight
      Q002.000.56.00L (4lpnhsw)

UHD option has been added for the sky q silver ES140. When you change resolution to 2160p it will show a 'cannot detect' message if it fails to find a compatible UHD TV.

Expect it will be the same for the ES130, but very few if any seem to have that box.

      Some other differences;
New left and right remote minute skip interval with recordings.
New auto play and download for next episode added.
Sky Movies has across the board changed to Sky Cinema
Option to select UHD content as your preferred download
Vevo app changes (use refersh app to enable sign in via the hidden menu)
The hack that was used for dimming the blue Q on the sky q box front has been removed
Volume sound has been reported as louder.
Slight selection change for hidden menu, its now; Settings 0 0 1 Select.
PIN protection for online videos from other content providers
Sound, hdmi control and standby bug fixes.

      For UHD
You can now setup your TV for UHD ready for 13th August, when the UHD content will be available.
To set your resolution go to settings > setup > audio visual > and select 2160p. If you do not setup you will be prompted to when you attempt to view in Ultra HD - press the red button and follow the on screen instructions.
The TV needs to support 2160p at 50fps AND have a port capable of HDCP 2.2, not all ports on the TV will be this, so try differenet ones. The hdmi cable supplied by sky should be used unless you know you are using a correct one.
Be aware that some hdmi switch boxes may not be compatible.
