Unhappy sky player error 80131522

getting extremely frustrated with the sky player.
I run Win XP Service pack 2
IE 7
Windows media 11
Yet when I have downloaded the sky anytime software and double clicked the desk top icon the main screen opens up saying its connecting to my pc software then i get a pop up box over the top displaying error code 8013522 and the telling me there is a script error.
If I click yes to stop running scripts or no to carry on the program just hangs there forever doing nothing. The exact wording is as follows:-

Internet explorer script error
An error has occured in the script on this page

Line 324
Char 9
Error Could not complete the operation due to error 80131522
Code 0
Url: file:///C:/program%20files/kontiki/sky_prod/cache/startpage.htm

Sky tech have not helped me one iota.
All they seem to want me to do is clear my cache and temp internet folders and reset the internet options to factory default.
The same thing just keeps happening.

Can anybody help me?

Please
Frustrated
Nick

I have read other threads that suggest that this is a problem with Kontiki and that installing the BBC iPlayer will fix the problem. That didn't work for me. The BBC iPlayer works fine. Whether or not the fact that I took part in the BBC trials of their iPlayer and so might have early dated components makes any difference I would not know.
Maybe worth a try, at least the BBC iPlayer works

Re: sky player error 80131522

Has anyone found a solution? I've been getting this exact same error on Vista.

A while ago I had both Sky Anytime PC and BBC iPlayer and they both worked fine but I uninstalled them because I wasn't using them. I recently reinstalled them both and while iPlayer worked perfectly well, Sky Player was giving me this error 80131522!

I've tried everything to get it to work, I even uninstalled iPlayer and reinstalled it and now it doesn't work either! I'm getting the same error for Sky Player and iPlayer! I've emailed Sky and still no luck. It's so frustrating.

Have you tried removing Kontiki and then reinstalling either Sky Player or iPlayer?

Removing kontiki

I just uninstalled both Sky Player and iPlayer and then ran the KClean program. It said it had completed successfully. Then I reinstalled Sky Player and still have the exact same problem. I can't even close it without going into Task Manager and stopping the KHost process.

Theres just something wrong when it tries to open the start page. If you open it up in a web browser instead of running the program it asks you if you want to run the ActiveX control and when you click yes it loads 'with errors on the page'.

Re: sky player error 80131522

I had this error on my system (WindowsXp Home with SP3) and found that it was caused by a faulty .Net Framework installation.
I found it very difficult to remove .Net framework until I came accross this article which explained how:
When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows Installer error code "1603"
This article give the following reference for automatic .Net framework removal:
Aaron Stebner's WebLog : Automated cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5
The first line of this post links to the automatic removal tool.

Instead of reinstalling everything as suggested in the Microsoft article I simply started a Windows XP update and it reinstalled .Net correctly. The update only installed .Net version 2.0.

Hi geoffrey,

Brilliant Mate, I have been trying to sort this 80131522 Error out for 2+ months now and thought I'd tried everything. Your advice worked a treat and I now have my Sky Player back!

Thankyou so much

Tony
