Something big is on the cards....

A few weeks ago we stated that we had been told that Sky were going to pull the Sky+ Subscription. We were under the impression that this was to happen on 12th February 2007.

However we all know about the Virgin Media battle, from this our only conclusion is that this plan was not rolled out and was put on hold.

It now transpires that Sky have something up their sleeve and are about to launch some cracking deals, we should hopefully learn of these plans within the next 2 weeks or so.

If we think logically, Virgin Media are at their most vulnerable at the moment, and VM may have underestimated the power of Sky One to their customers.

Sky One has some of the best programming content available to any TV Channel operator and so to make it worthwhile for Sky to go to these lengths, means something is been planned to hurt Virgin Media even further.

      What would Sky do?

If it was me in charge, I would now want to poach as many customers off Virgin Media as possible, and now is the best time to do so.

Sky have already reported huge numbers signing up to their Switch Package and they really need to turn up the heat asap. We have heard several reports that something is going down, unfortunately no-one will confirm the details.... Yet!

I watched an interview with Branson on BBC Parliament the other day and he basically said that he was never gonna do a deal with sky due them them knackering his ITV bid.

He's thrown his toys out the pram and been beat by a better businessman.

Sky haven't got to where they are through luck, they've worked bloomin hard and invested a fortune.

I personally think Sky deserve to win this battle and am really looking forward to whatever they have up their sleeves.

All of which will be aimed at new subscribers and not existing ones I would have thought.

Well where do you all stand on this issue? Sky v VM

I for one feel that healthy competition will benefit us all & to that end VM need to remain in the market place.

How do you stand regarding Sky's decision to remove their channels from FREEVIEW in the summer?

Once Sky have a captive audience will we all start to suffer increased costs?

      Just a few thoughts

It was mentioned on ADSLGuide that Sky are planning a Home Phone line service

Anyone else heard if this is the case? Aparently cheaper than BT

Yes, however I was refering to a Line rental in the similar way PlusNet do.

However it appears that the poster was refering to Virgin not Sky.

Sky will be launching phone line rental at 9.00 a month later on this year, if thats what you mean. Saving you 1.75 against BT.
