    Sky+ Subscription imminent scrapping

This is a discussion on Sky+ Subscription imminent scrapping within the Sky news and announcements forums, part of the SkyUser Announcements category; I've never paid Sky+ charge as I've always had premium channels. Go get your cash back.......

      Re: Sky+ Subscription imminent scrapping

At the end of the day who knows apart from Sky - maybe they are about to drop the Sky+ subscription, maybe not?

For my part I've never been interested in the Sky Movie channels or Sports packages so 10.00 per month for the Sky+ functionality just wasn't worth it. However, the minute they drop the 10.00 sub I'd get a Sky+ box like a shot, also I'd be willing to sign up for a further 12 month contract and would more than likely stick with Sky beyond that.

It's a competitive market and Sky+ isn't the solitary innovative product it once was. With Virgin Media doing a massive push and the freeview PVR's looking very good the justification for a Sky+ subscription looks rather questionable.

My feeling is the subscription will probably be dropped sometime in the next few months - but what do I know?

      Hmmmmmmm!

So has this story just turned out to be wishful thinking? Shame if it was just a rumour as I was getting quite excited about the prospect of finally being able to justify getting Sky+.

      Oh well, such is life.

Cool Re: Sky+ Subscription imminent scrapping

Any one thought that they may be dropping the SKY+ surcharge to try & get more people using SKY HD.

Lets face it they already dropped the price of an HD box by 100 & the monthly surchage is 10.

Could be a coincidence, but personally I don't believe in them when it comes to SKY...

      Re: Sky+ Subscription imminent scrapping

In light of the apparent withdrawal of Sky's non premium channels from Virgin Media if I were Sky I might consider this........

Putting aside the rules of fair play, and the fact that Sky are being rather aggressive in their dealings with Virgin Media, this would be the perfect time for Sky to also announce that the Sky+ subscription was to be scrapped.

Not saying it's right, just saying it would be the double whammy in Sky attracting some of the Virgin Media customers and keeping hold of some of their customers (not forgetting, making me very happy that this rumour had more meat to it).

No. it doesn't help as it's talking about a completely different thing, but thanks for looking it up.
