Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

With all the comments relating to the Connect package for 5, isn't it also a fact that the 'new' customer has to have Sky TV at a minimum of 15 a month as well?

Therefore this cut price 5 deal is in reality giving Sky 20 a month which then means they can start to creep up the prices to recoup some of the initial losses.

I do agree is a bit of a pig when a deal is offered for less when you have signed up but it's only the same as the early adopters of Sky TV, who paid hundreds of pounds for their original digiboxes only to find that Sky were to be giving them away for new customers at a later date.

Look at their HD package, 300 for the box and an extra 10/month, you just know that 'by Christmas' the boxes might be sold for much less but isn't that the gamble that we consumers face with most purchases?

The 5.00 deal on here applies to people already on Sky at the moment who have expressed an interest in getting Sky BB. As long as their exchange is LLU enabled within the next 6 months, they are eligible.

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

Well my exchange was upgraded 2 months ago and I'm still paying 17 a month for Connect, sent emails to Sky and Murdoch but no response has been forthcoming.

Here is hoping they do the honourable thing and reduce us to the 5 per month and refund at least half the connection fee.

Sky have just opened up a huge can of worms.

No doubt the new TV deals will sicken the existing user base as always the existing customers gets a raw deal.

But does it also apply to people that are already on connect on an exchange that is already enabled that Sky refuse to upgrade to Mid/Max for what ever reason that they will not tell us?

I'd say Sky should offer a refund \ drop in rate for people who have signed up since, say, the start of December; that'd be nice of them.

As NR said; if you buy something, then it's reduced in a sale the following week, you don't get any refund...

we're paying for a service, not an item which loses value the minute it's through the shop door. I will be expecting to pay the new 'connect' rate. I'm a 'guinea pig' for a large number of people who are only waiting for me to confirm how wonderful sky broadband is before they join me. Sky may lose out.

Well, Nationwide have just changed their mortgage rate offerings so that existing customers get a higher interest rate than new customers.

They used to offer the same deals to existing customers as new customers.

It's business, whether we like it or not.

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

Monday the 15th of Jan is the last day for me to cancel with aol without paying this months fee.I hope Sky are quick with their announcement!I've been thinking of getting connect as I am definitely putting aol in the skip and if I can get it at a fiver a month I'm in.Only trouble is,no date for my exchange being unbundled so I may be up the creek without a frying pan or something.

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

      hi all
i want to put in my tupence worth,
after reading through most [if not all the posts re the 5 connect] i cannot work out why people are upset that they pay 17, as when the deal came out it was very good value [for 40 gig alone and up to 8 meg it still cant be beaten [that i can find] and i'm sure it was a 12 month agreement that you all signed for not a when i see a better offer then i want it agreement. if you buy a bus ticket [monthly] and a special deal comes up 2 weeks later you dont get a rebate on your ticket ,if you paid the 40 to get sky connect then 2-3 months down the line it only costs 20 why should you get a rebate ? for a deal that is already implemented and agreed by yourselfs months ago
ps the 40 connection fee had already been subsidised by sky [58 is bt's standard fee for hooking up your line

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

I'm not upset but my view is that two different people on the same package can be paying two different prices and no matter what the reason is it is not really fair, as it is not my fault that Sky are not enableding my exchange in the next 12 months. Your comparison to a bus ticket doesn't really work on this one.
