Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

Thanks for this. I spent over an hour on the phone to Sky (after Tier 2 had rung me back, luckily), trying to get this and being fobbed off one person after another saying there was nothing they could do. So rang the freephone number, after a 15 minute wait got through to "Stuart" - good guy - who had no problem putting me onto 5 per month for 6 months.

I was rather concerned to hear, however, that they were fully aware my exchange had been enabled back in November, but that capacity was now full and that (according to one guy), I had to wait until the number of people on Connect reached a certain trigger figure, or (according to someone else) I had to wait until they had enough capacity ready in the exchange for everyone in the area on Connect to transfer over at once (although he couldn't quite explain how someone down the street has just signed up for it with no mention of having to be on Connect first).

So that looks like I could be hanging around indefinately waiting to be transferred over.

When I called I was advised that my exchange was going to be transfered over in summer 07. I did ask them if at that point I would be automatically transfered to the Max package and they said I would be contacted and given the option to change to Max. If I did not change I would stay on the 5 month option until I did choose to move off the Connect package.

From that my understanding is that if you sign up on Connect at 5 month. It stays like that for the 12 month contract or until you move to another package.

Hmmm. My understanding was different. They told me that once I was ready to be transferred over, they would send me a letter notifying me that it was going to happen, and that it would automatically get transferred from Connect to the Mid package, unless I chose one of the other two (base or max).

All I was told is that I would be contacted nearer the time, no idea if it is via email or by letter but as long as they let me know one way or thew other I am not to bothered. They never told me when I was going to be migrated to them from BT so I hope they do inform me this time.

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

      can someone clarify for me?
I have signed up with Connect in Nov/Dec.. at the time was told my exchange would enabled within 6 months.
But at the time there wasn't this 5 offer so I am paying 17.00

If I try to subscribe now to sky I would get it for 5 as my exchange will be LLU within 6 months.

Am I right in thinking that several people on this forum have telephoned sky and managed to get their 17 reduced to 5 whilst they wait?

I've just been on the phone to someone from sky who said I couldn't do that and would have to wait until the exchange was enabled.. was he lying?

(I wouldn't care, the money I will save if it happens I will actually use for a sky + subscription so they will still my money)

      jamesyboy,

      Stick your details in here:

      Sky Broadband

If it comes back that you can get the 5 offer try phoning them again as they should then change you over to the 5 price. If they don't I would keep phoning at various times of the day until someone does do it for you.

I wouldn't say he was lying, more that he doesn't know what he is doing.

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

ring the freephone number, go through the various menus to get to broadband customer support (I can't remember the exact route now!) - the guy I spoke to - Stuart - gave me the impression that it was a matter of routine now to give this offer out. However, I'd been on the phone for over an hour before to various departments, none of whom knew anything about it.

What is the minimum TV SKY package needed to qualify for the 5 broadband deal? Thanks in anticipation.
