      Hello,

I ordered Sky Broadband on 29.12.2006, was told that the network hadn't reached my area (it was enabled 14.12.2006) and so could only go on connect - paid the 40 and am now on 17 per month.

      This is my exchange:
      The Broadband Resource

Do I have just as much chance of a reduction to 5 do you think?!

      @ hermann

Stick your phone number in here:

      Sky Broadband

And if it says you can get the 5 product then use the free number to phoen them:

      0800 051 2595

      @Alan b

The adverts I have been seeing don't mention existing customers, must be my poor eye sight when looking at the ridiculously small "small print" in thos adverts.

I now seem to have the 5 offer for 6 months as this was confirmed in an email response from the Customer Relations guy I had been emailing and he notes this offer is now on my account. Although his reply was very short as he has realised I got what I wanted by speaking to someone else.

To be honest though they all should be singing from same hymn sheet and not agents making up the rules as they go along, common sense should prevail eventually.

Well an hour on the phone and finally getting through to someone who knew what they are talking about (thanks Stuart!) I discover my accounts been moved back to active status which means they can't request a MAC code until that's complete which will be thursday. Considering I asked for it last Monday I'm not a happy bunny.

      Don't you just love tiscali!

      @ boab2791

The adverts of the day this promotion launched efinately mentioned that it was available to exsiting customers. It wasn't part of the small print either. I remebre this because if Sky were going to give me any hasstle when I asked to be put on the 5 product I was going to mention their press adverts.

I have to be honest and havn't taken much notice of the press ads now as I don't need to but I will have a look in my newspaper tomorrow to see what it does say.

Maybe by exsiting customer tohey mean TV Customer and not those already on Sky BB, but if no mention of that then there wording is to our advantage.

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

I just got off to the phone to SKY. It seems all you have to do is ask!

      My full experience:

Called SKY on 29.12.2006, they said their network hadn't reached my area and all I could get was Connect. Agreed to go on it for 40 activation and at 17 per month believing I would be moved over to Mid, or could go on Max when their network reached me.

Found this site and all about how to check the exchange soon after, and it turned out that my exchange was enabled 14.12.2006.

Because of this, I called back SKY on 20.01.2007 to see if I could go onto Max and another chap explained I was on Connect as capacity was full and that I would be moved when capacity increased in the next 6 months.

Called SKY tonight (23.01.2007) after reading this thread with interest about 5 Connect, and suddenly I am able to be moved to Max within 48 hours! They say they will credit me back 20 of the activation fee and 7 from the first month fee and then I will be on the normal 10 a month charge for Max.

Thank you SKY, I feel valued!

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

I called sky on the freephone number yesterday, as when i signed up back in september i was told that i could move over to base/mid/max by xmas.

Having heard nothing from them i decided to try and 'gee-up' the process. my exchange has still not been unbundled, but as of now I will only pay 5 per month for my existing connect package!

      Result!
