I've just submitted one of my two MAC codes, and was told 5 PCM for 6 months then 17 PCM if exchange not ready.

What a palaver getting my MAC code, one mention of OFCOM code of practice and I had two within 5 mins!

Told router would be here within 5 days.

Put your tel no in and if you get the following you are eligible :-
      Fast downl
oad speeds and a massive usage allowance can now be yours with Sky Broadband Connect. Normally it would cost you 17 per month. But Connect is available in your area right now for just 5 per month – plus a one-off broadband activation fee of 20.

      You already have broadband
Before you can order Sky Broadband, you will need a ‘MAC code’ to switch your broadband to Sky smoothly and with minimal disruption to your service. Click here for further advice in switching to Sky.
Sky’s broadband network continues to roll out across the country and as soon as it reaches your area, you’ll be able to get our full range of broadband products. Sky Broadband Base, Mid and Max should be available where you live by SUMMER 2007

Until then, you can get Sky Broadband Connect – it delivers fast download speeds of up to 8Mb*, and a monthly usage allowance of 40GB. To get Sky Broadband Connect for just 5 a month, with a FREE Wireless Router**, and 12 months’ FREE McAfee security to help safeguard against viruses, spam and other online risks. Call the number below.

Sky Broadband connect for 5 a month is only available by calling -
      Join Sky: 08702 405157
      Already a Sky customer: 08702 404007

I was also told by the fella who changed me over that if the did not meet their timescale for ADSL2? they would honour the 5/month deal until it became available.

If you check my previous posts, regulars wont need to, you will see that I have not been impressed with sky so far. This, in my case has gone a long way to rectifying that.
      Bring on max !!

      @ Sugden5

I spoke to someone who said the same on Friday before this promotion launched, he either hasn't been told about this or doesn't know what he is doing. Just phone back later and hopefully you will get through to someone who is more clued up.

.....and I thought it was me getting my password wrong! Glad to see everyone back. NR and SD we appreciate your dedication and brilliant effort.

I may be posting this in the wrong place so please move if it would help other Connect users. I would be interested in hearing others comments.

This is the content of the Sky email I recieved on 12th Sept 2006.

Thank you for registering your interest in Sky Broadband. We are currently rolling out our state-of-the art network across the country, but your area won't become live for the next few months. Until then, we'd like to offer you Sky Broadband Connect which we have developed for areas not yet on our network. It runs at speeds of up to 8Mb and at 17 per month is cheaper than the equivalent BT product and you'll get all the other great benefits that come with all Sky Broadband products. Plus as soon as your area goes live on our network we'll switch you to our Mid broadband product. ..............................

      Regards

      Samantha Beresford
      Senior Product Manager
      Sky Broadband

      TO BUY, CALL 08705 515515 AND .........

So with my exchange going to LLU in October 2006 (Walkden) I should be on MID (from memory 5 per month). Hence I should just need to give a gentle reminder that I should go there - and hope for a small 12 per month refund?
BUT if I go to MID will I be able to get MAX?

Thanks for the tip message boarders! Just rang Sky customer services and they switched me from exisiting 17-a-month Connect to new 5-a-month service straight away. They also said my exchange should be LLU-fitted by the summer.
Well done Sky and well done Sky User !!!

Re: Sky Broadband Connect at 5 a month ??

I first dialled the freephone number but they said I had to dial a different number, i think it was the one for existing customers ( i was at work at he time and wrote it down there on a notepad ). If anyones stuck for it I can post it tomorrow lunchtime.
Beethoven - I think i'm right in saying if you can get mid you can get max as well - extra 5 tho - bargain.
NR or SD will amend if I got it wrong
