I use ARC, so the Sky remote adjusts my LG, as the volume changes so does the Panasonic, you can see the volume display changing.

Doesn't that also increase the volume on the internal loudspeakers? I thought that the soundbase would be a good match for my Panasonic TV but I have to turn the TV volume right down else I get an annoying echo due to a slight timing difference between the two audio paths. I could mute the TV but that leaves a distracting on screen icon.

It appears, if I've read the panasonic reviews correctly, the different sound presets (Movie, sport etc) have to be selected manually via the remote control. As I understand it the Sky Soundbox will do this automatically via metadata embedded within the broadcast?

That is correct about the Sky Soundbox.

Only with Sky Q though, not Sky+ HD.

Not a function I've ever used since I installed my soundbox, and not something I'd wish to pay a couple of hundred quid for the privilege of either.

That's what I mean. With the Sky Soundbox there is no recalling of presets. The sound levels etc are changed automatically (on SkyQ) for speech, sport etc by way of metadata embedded in the broadcast. The Panasonic won't do that and needs to be changed manually dependent upon what type of broadcast you're watching if you want best quality audio. Now that is a PITA in my view.
