ISP Fluidata and Sky in Deal to Deliver Wholesale Ethernet to Businesses - ISPreview UK
Business ISP Fluidata has today signed an agreement with Sky’s (Sky Broadband) recently created SNS (Sky Network Services) Wholesale division, which will enable them to jointly work on offering new high capacity Ethernet connectivity solutions to businesses across the United Kingdom.

The new service will utilise Sky’s nationwide telecomms and data network, while Fluidata will provide a dedicated support team and their experience of bringing business communications products to market. All services will be mapped across the Sky core network before being delivered to the Fluidata network via a highly resilient solution, which includes automatic re-routing of traffic against incidents.

We understand that the new high-capacity Ethernet solutions can be ordered from Fluidata, via both the direct and partner markets, from today. The service itself will come equipped with a strong Service Level Agreement (SLA+) to support a guarantee of service up-time, not to mention “free” installation and activation (said to be worth £2,500).

In addition, business customers who order a 100Mbps or 200Mbps Ethernet service will also get an extra 50Mbps of bandwidth for “free”.

Piers Daniell, Managing Director of Fluidata, said:

“Customers choosing to commit to long term high capacity connections strengthen the growth potential in their businesses. It is only through Sky’s significant investment in the consumer market that we can push 1 Gb/s connections as standard and ensure customer connectivity is truly future-proof.”
Graham Sargood, Sky’s Director of Telecomms Wholesale, said:

“This is an exciting opportunity to work with Fluidata to deliver a brand new service to the UK marketplace.

Our investment in our telecomms infrastructure to deliver voice, video and data services to our residential customer base will enable us to use this highly resilient national network to also serve the business marketplace with an ability to reach over 95% of businesses in the UK.

Fluidata is the ideal partner to begin these services with.”
Sky has long been expected to make a more aggressive move into the Wholesale market and this is perhaps one of the more public demonstrations of that ambition.
