The trouble is that a lot of programmes are not true hd, but up scaled to hd and the same will probably happen with 4k . Also unless you have a very large screen tv you will not notice a lot of difference

      Re: Sky Q

How true... Our local Vue was displaying it's 'This is 4K' trailer. However, that was at least a twenty foot screen. 4K on a 48"? You'd have have your nose next to the screen to notice any difference.

I looked at a 4K OLED in JL a couple of weeks ago, it was damn good, but it also looked good on standard HD, not so much the content, more the display.

I also know what SWMBO would say if I suggested buying one... far too rude to repeat here!

When I was a single man living in my own place I would have had one, sadly ( or not ) those days are no longer, and we spend our hard earned cash on travel and going to the theatre, concerts and good dining. The lounge TV was replaced about 2 years ago so it will be at least another 4 before it comes around again, and even then it won't be a 4K unless prices are more acceptable.

Sounds like you need a large group of children to spend all that spare cash on @marhohn56. You'll never be able to afford a trip to the Theatre again!

Now why would I want to spoil a lifestyle I am perfectly happy with?

Advantages - Too many to mention.

Disadvantages - No one to look after us when we are old. Our nieces have already volunteered that help when needed - Where there's a WILL there's always someone willing.

Which brings another thought to my mind; my nephews, who I only ever see at the odd family event, and believe me we have some odd ones, have started sending me Facebook friend requests... funny that, however, I and my better half have no plans to shuffle of this mortal coil any time soon. They are all going to be sadly dissapointed anyway, most of what's left will be going to the Battersea cats & dogs home, the WWF ( not the wrestling one ) and other well deserving charities.

      Re: Sky Q

I think that this new group of products are going to be quite impressive once they are properly launched to the public.

Based upon what I've seen in the various EPG and Sky Go beta groups, along with a few other forums, the features included are going to really good.

Along with a whole new EPG style and the ability to watch things across multiple devices, this will help to change how we watch the content.

      Cats are more interesting...

However, I have signed up for 'Q' info from Sky as soon as it becomes available, then I'll either go, that's not bad or they must be 'avin a larf'.

      Hello All
I have no doubt that Scubbie is quite right that this new product ' line Up' will be
very impressive & be all singing / dancing but at what cost to Joe Public.....!!
Mr Darroch is hell bent on increasing prices So I cannot see skyQ being within
everybody's grasp..... Plus if the rumours are true you will not even own the
hardware : So any downgrade in future would mean removal of the equipment
leading to a restart of your previous package or the like : which would I assume
      include extra costs...........

      Re: Sky Q

Certainly questions such as what happened when you end the contract are going to need to be addressed.

There are some rumours being spread around, which I can understand will be upsetting. Just what Sky actually will do hasn't been made official yet so I'm staying open to possibilities.

There are advantages to both owning or renting the boxes. There are also disadvantages to both options. Just the terms and conditions we need to see now.

Very true, and how are Sky support going to cope with the 'Q' system? Pro support are very good but the crib sheet methodology used by the other support crews will not be too successful with 'Q'.
