Well I wanted it to be a shade of pink with bright pink leads, so I didn't get my choice either

      That'll do

      Also one of these:

Nordost Purple Flare 2.5M Power Cable: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

...but with the correct UK plug and a pink cable.

It amazes me that there are those who claim they can hear the difference and buy these, a bit like good plated HDMI leads make a massive difference....not.

      Too true.

Whilst I may not post so many questions, one of the benefits to contributing to forums like this is that you pick up better ways to do things.

With that in mind when I did upgrade to a HDMI TV I didn't go and spend 50+ on a cable. Instead I bought a series of HDMI 1.4 cables that were each under 10.

The only cable I've had an issue with is a long Mini HDMI to HDMI cable that I use to connect a camera to my TV with. It got pulled at some stage and the HDMI plug came out of the housing.

These topics really do go off 'topic'.

      Yes.

The new contracts are for 18 months too.

      Re: Sky Q

Hmmm, I am quite interested in Sky Q silver..however...about 3/4 months ago I phoned up to cancel my Sky broadband fibre, phone, Sky package etc which was costing me over 140 monthly, I made it quite clear I was only phoning to cancel after the rep tried to grill me on reducing packages etc to make it cheaper...I had just decided to go another route for my home packages (this was not an attempt to get a reduced deal, I really had looked long and hard at my use etc and decided there was plenty of alternatives out there) so I was very surprised he asked me to hang on a moment when out of the blue he said if I could reduce your package to about a 100 would that help change your mind....it did and I stayed....he also said ring back in October and we will then offer the same deal for another 12 months....happy days..no messing about to do.
So now I am eyeing up Sky Q and almost inevitably will have to go back to my old pricing I guess, not that I/we cant afford it...but as I never sought it in the first place, it was an out of the blue offer....I now have to make a decision on the real benefits, we are a fairly large household (4 adults 2 young teenagers and a 10 year old) and we have:

      Sky Fibre Broadband plus
      3 x Sky HD boxes
      Sky Telephone Line
Multitude of I pads, I phones tablets etc
      X box, ps4 Kindles etc
      Freesat HD
      2 x 4K Oleds (65" 55")

I do feel myself leaning towards Sky Q so decisions to make this week methinks.

Sorry for rambling on a bit but I guess many people will be in a similar position to me if they are on a reduced price as well
but as it sounds quite enticing to our household I guess Sky are to be congratulated for what appears to be a quite exciting product that would almost certainly have tempted me back had I left, but it does come at a premium.....just got to work out what equipment I would need now and if it would work out.?

The biggest challenge as I see it...my son and his girlfriend have a Sky HD box 2tb with all their favourite recordings, the kids have theirs 1tb and I and my wife of course have ours 2tb...wonder how that can pan out and keep us all happy?

Off for a coffee as I have a headache
