      Sky Boosts UK Customer Service Team with 400 Extra Jobs - ISPreview UK

      Sky (Sky Broadband) has announced plans to create 400 new customer service jobs across the United Kingdom, with around 200 going to their contract centres in Scotland (100 at Uddingston, 50 in Livingston and 50 more at Dunfermline) and the rest to their bases in Newcastle and Stockport (England).

      The broadband, phone and TV media giant currently employs around 6,000 people in Scotland (overall total), while the new roles will reflect a mix of both full and part-time positions that should start to be filled from this month.A Sky Spokeswoman said:
      “We are very excited to be launching one of our biggest sales department intakes for 2015. Our aim is to build a reliable and diverse workforce to help grow and expand the Sky brand.

      We are passionate about delivering excellent customer service and retaining our existing customers, this relies heavily on an experienced and passionate workforce.”

      Part of the move may also reflect Sky’s need to support the forthcoming 2016 launch of their new O2based mobile phone services (here), not to mention the fact that Sky have continued to add customers despite aggressive competition from rivals like BT (here).

      That's nice to know. I will be able to cancel my TV package quicker in September then.

      Or it could mean that they can afford to allow someone to spend 2 hours with you on the phone & try to convince yu to stay with Sky.

      Newcastle is a retention/attractions centre.
      Stockport is sales/service.
      Uddingston is retention/winback.
      Livingston and Dunfermline cover most departments although I'd bet the jobs will be for retention. Livingston retention do web chat retention. Dunfermline retention do (primarily) broadband and phone retention.
