Re: UPDATE: BSkyB receives permission for Sky Deutschland purchase

I wouldn't quite see this as the creation of a monopoly, but I do this this as a creation of a company with a potentially huge buying power.

There are many other TV Broadcasters across the whole of Europe and neither of the Sky broadcasters in Europe have a complete monopoly in thei respective markets.

I am sure that each will have a different set of audiences to cater for as well. So whilst Game of Thrones might be popular and need to be translated for Italy and Germany, would Italy be interested in an England vs Scotland football match or would the UK & Ireland be interested in an event between Germany and Poland?

Ok, sure there are many people here who have ties with various countries in Europe, but on the whole the audiences in the UK & Ireland would be quite small.

SkyItalia and Sky Deutschland both show films way before Sky UK do.

I wonder if this will now change?

Yes it did, at the AGM, but the public announcement only came out today.
