The 5 year offer is only for "offer riders": people who call for a discount every time a discount ends.
Not very fair, tbh, they just want them to go away for a long time.

I am going to ring today and say that if I was offered that same 5 year deal, I would go back.
If they say no, then I will be looking to move my phone and fibre away too.

Re: Sky Broadband UK Warns of Forthcoming TV Bundle Price Hike

My HD box has failed, see my other post.
But just to repeat my opinion in this post:

I am not happy with Sky as a whole. They cancel the upfront line rental, due to a "business decision".

If you want movies in HD and the Sports in HD, you have to take their expensive package!
I just want the basic free channels and Movies and Sport in HD but no I have to pay top whack and get channels that I don't want.
They only allow the option to add HD to Movies and Sport IF you take out the Family Option!!
This should be raised with Trading Standards!!!
There is no reason why I cannot have the Original Package, plus Movies HD and Sports HD instead of:

"The HD Pack has been removed because you'll need to take the Family Bundle, Sky Sports and/or Sky Movies with a compatible HD box"

They are always offering discount packages to NEW customers but fail to address their long supporting customers.
There is no choice in building your TV package and with the current price hike, enough is enough!!!!!!

Re: Sky Broadband UK Warns of Forthcoming TV Bundle Price Hike

Well, I rang and they couldn't or wouldn't give me the 33% 5 year deal.
They said it was only offered to a very small minority of ex customers which I don't believe is entirely true.

I was offered 50% discount for one year, so I took it and will ring again in 12 months and haggle for deal again or leave.
I don't see why I should pay full price anymore if I can get away with it having been with them since day one of analogue and never having any discounts.
I think I deserve something from them for loyalty or is it stupidity?

How long does it take to be switched back on?
It's been around 30 minutes now and still no sky.

I just rang them back to check that they had switched me back on and I was told it could take up to 4 hours, but he would put me on hold while he checked to see that it had been done properly.

After a few minutes of silence, I got the not connected tone!

So I have to wait and hope it's been done right now, I am not going to ring back and speak to yet another person and explain myself all over again.

      Maybe it's just dogged determination.

Re: Sky Broadband UK Warns of Forthcoming TV Bundle Price Hike

More than happy to wait. The retention guy went thru how I use sky:

What channels on the entertainment pack do you watch?

Er, A league of their own on Sky One, The Newsroom on Sky Atlantic, numerous repeats of Friends on Comedy Central and the odd concert of Sky Arts

      Do you use Sky Go
      No

      Would you benefit from multiroom.
There's only me who lives here

      Do you watch Sky Sports?
Just the Premiership and UCL, but you've lost the rights to UCL. Other than that, the Ryder Cup every two years.

      So you like golf then?
No, can't stand it, it's boring. Just the Ryder Cup

      Do you watch the movies?
Yes, that's the one element that I do actually use, but its half the price on NowTV

Do you make many phone calls?
No, I only have line rental as I have to have it to have fibre

Okay, I can save you 18pm then if you agree to a new 12month contract. I can also do you half price fibre.
I could get half price fibre now thru the SS5 offer, so you can only really offer me 18.

Yes that's the best we can do

Okay, I'll still be leaving then.

The real killer was that this conversation took 45mins and the above is literally all he asked after he padded it out telling me that as I watch Sky Atlantic and it's exclusive to Sky I should stay. Not sure watching one show on Sky Atlantic when it's on NowTV is a good reason to stay. Oh and you best keep Sky Sports as Liverpool are on this weekend. Yes, I know, but after the 31 days they are hardly on until the new year.

After that I'm actually pleased to be leaving as it's really made me realise that I'm chucking away 70pm.

I wasn't an ex-customer I was an existing Sky customer when they immediately gave me a 33% reduction on my subscription fixed for 5 years. TBH I think some Sky agents just make it up as they go along.
