Wow, will the BT bubble burst now we begin to see the true cost for subscribers subsidising their excessive bid for UCL.

Where's the 16.50 from? Or were you on free HD for a year?

BT Sport on Sky Digital Satellite Platform – BT Sport is also available on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform for all new and existing BT broadband customers who sign up for 12 months or have 12 months remaining on their contract; ongoing renewal needed to get discounted BT Sport. Sky box and active viewing card required. If you don't have BT Broadband you'll need to pay 12 a month (rising to 13.50 a month on 01/09/14) plus a one off 15 fee. Excludes Multiscreen. e-billing required. UK only. Terms apply.

      That is a massive increase!

Was the 12 per month a discounted fee?

I just can't see how this is the case?

If you don't have BT Broadband you can buy BT Sport and watch it on the Sky platform for 12 in SD or 15 in HD per month. The price is increasing from 12 to 13.50 on 1st September, an increase of 12.5%. There is no increase in the additional HD subscription that I can find.

Still excessive in my view, but not nearly 40%!

Have you upgraded to HD as well and perhaps didn't realise?

I think they may have had HD free for the first 12 months so while the rise for them is technically right, it isn't a fair reflection on BT Sports rises.

      Makes sense.

What doesn't make sense though is people subscribing to identical packages having different price increases.

Infact in the absence of an explanation, it's downright scandalous.

Re: Sky Broadband UK Warns of Forthcoming TV Bundle Price Hike

Sorry, I should have explained the details. The first year price had a discount for early subscribers, hence HD for no extra charge and 12 rather than 15 per month.

At 16.50 for half as many channels and with far fewer top matches, BT Sport is poor value compared with Sky Sports. I now feel I am not an "equal" customer paying a fair price but am subsidising BT's broadband promotion.

      The main points remain:
      - for me the price goes up 37.5%
      - 22% is an enormous surcharge for HD
      - 12 is good value; 16.50 is not

Then don't pay for it then.

I think everything from BT is overpriced and I don't like the fact I have to have at least a "basic" TV package from Sky to watch Sky Sports, so I don't pay either for anything.

You only need an "ex-subscriber" viewing card as a minimum to view BT sports (possibly a current Freesat From Sky card).
