Today was my first day back at Sky after the weekend and there were no briefs about the up front payment returning.

If someone tries to take an upfront payment I would be very cautious as the payment will go through but it will just put your account into credit and will not apply as a reduction to the cost of the line rental.

The lady that told me it was available tried to call me again yesterday but I was in a meeting. If she calls again I will push her on it.

She was also talking about a Fibre deal that is "not yet on the system" which was interesting but still not enough to change my mind about moving. The offer over the 12 months still worked out more expensive than what Plusnet are offering and that's before I take into account the potential 130 cashback that has tracked through Quidco.

I agree with most sentiments here. BT infinity 2 worked out cheaper considering i was already paying 12 a month for BT sport. I only really subscribe for sports. If I try to cut to the basic pack + sport, I realise I'll lose Eurosport HD . it's very expensive companied to the 27 a month it cost when I started subscribing to sky world!!

The only real alternative isn't available to me, Virgin Media.

The movies and TV packages there are better alternatives now that actually play the content at the proper speed and blu-ray for the best experience.

Looks like sky is still doing well as mentioned in their financial results. Churn has declined year on year, as was asked earlier in this thread.
To me this shows the BT affect has made no difference.

BSkyB’s core numbers are all positive, with pay-TV DTH subs up 264,000 to 10.686 million, Sky+ HD up 456,000 to 5.24 million, Broadband up 341,000 to 5.247 million, and telephony up 481,000 to 4.982 million.
ARPU is up 7 to 576, and its ‘triple play’ clients now represent 37 per cent (up 2 per cent) of the total.
Even Churn has moved down, year on year, from 10.9 per cent to 10.7 per cent.

So, wifey has been looking at alternatives, vutv, now tv and I've seen the humax pvrs mentioned on here - would anyone be kind enough to offer me the pro's and con's of what's available?

My letter states it's only going up by 1.
I recently discovered that my mum, who's on the same package as us had the 2 increase letter as well.

Presumably when the price freeze & package changes occurred you were subscribing to 3 of the 6 old individual packs, whereas mum & i were subscribing to 2.
That would explain why you were at 34.75 & we were at 33.75.

I believe last years increase for mum & i was 1.50, but only 1 for customers not subjected to the freeze.
So sky evened things up a bit to the tune of 50p.

None of which explains why mine is only going up by 1 though.
I was hoping to have confirmed all this by now but our online bills haven't updated to august yet.
When they do i'll post back.

I think this confirms mine has only gone up by 1.

      Was 23.50 per month.

Re: Sky Broadband UK Warns of Forthcoming TV Bundle Price Hike

My BT Sport subscription is increasing from 12 per month to 16.50, an increase of 37.5%. This makes Sky's price rise seem minimal. I am thinking of cancelling BT Sport as the price has become too high for such a primitive service (no red button etc.) with so few top matches in the coming season.
