I got a letter from sky but it say good news your price isn't affect by 1st September as because you just signed up promotion deal with 50% off DTV with HD for 12 months (the complete bundle with HD Sports / Movies). So, my monthly payment remain the same 33.62 for the rest of my remaining 10 months left until May 2015.

So, I count myself lucky. But, I do feel sorry for all of you.

There will be many others who will not be affected by the price rise in September too. Those who only have the basic package, for example, will not have to worry.

Given the problems you had, I'd blame the advisor a little, tbh.
If you had put your order in to the new provider before you called Sky then this will already have been showing as cancelling so they would just cancel tv and explain the billing.

You didn't get the best offers.
They could/should have offered you broadband and line rental for 15.40 per month for 12 months.

First of all I rang Sky to see what their best offers were. I said I'd basically decided to drop Sky TV but was open to offers of Sky BB+LR. I received no offers of any kind, on any product and was told it was 'list price' only for everything. So BB+LR was some 22-23/month which was over 100/year more than I could buy elsewhere. I then asked about the best procedure to cancel Sky BB+LR and was told to place an order with another supplier, MAC not needed. I did that within 15 minutes of finishing the call with Sky.

If the CSR at offered me BB+LR at 15.40/month I would probably have stayed to avoid the hassle. However I wasn't, so I'm off on 28/7/14 and won't be returning after experiencing Sky customer service. The product wasn't bad but the service is awful.

Is it me or are Sky relying upon inertia to keep the vast majority of customers who don't seem to understand how expensive Sky is nowadays? So they are happy to ignore people who take a judgement on the value of the services they offer. However they should understand my departure means Sky's bottom line profit decreases by 1,000 (it's called marginal costing if they don't understand) and it doesn't take many people to cease to have a significant effect on their annual profits. Unless of course they start cutting services, sacking staff and reducing investment.

Re: Sky Broadband UK Warns of Forthcoming TV Bundle Price Hike

I received an email from sky yesterday confirming my recent order. (Cancelling all sky TV).

      It said >>

The following extras will be removed from your package

      Sky+HD Pack

Should I worry about this? I want all of the TV package cancelled, not just any extras.

I am guessing it is yet another poorly worded email. (I hope)

I wouldn't worry, mine said "The following extras will be removed from your package", and then listed absolutely nothing!

The letter I received to confirm my TV was finishing on the 14th also said "We're delighted you want to continue your Sky Broadband and Sky Talk services with us." They move on the 1st August!

It's gone really down hill. Feels like Nokia, a long time ago you wouldn't consider anything other than Nokia, now you wouldn't consider it at all. I don't now what's going on, but their service seems shocking, the product is down right expensive and the equipment (fibre hub) is very poor.

I'm not convinced by VM, but Infinity seems the best value at the moment all things considered.
