Just been looking at the page and the T&Cs for that offer.

Does it allow ALL existing Sky Broadband customers (including those already on Fibre)? Or just those currently on ADSL?

Re: UK ISP Sky Broadband to Drop Superfast Unlimited Fibre Price to GBP7.50

Not really worth taking this offer at 7.50 a month for me.

You see with me paying my up front line rental last Oct, my current contract runs out in Oct 2014, so I am free to go elsewhere and look for the best fibre/phone deals.

However if I take up the sky fibre offer, I am a current broadband unlimited customer with Sky, then yes for the next 6 months I see no difference to my monthly direct debit, it will remain at 77.75.

However come Oct, with Sky not doing a up front line rental at the moment, and if I do take up the Sky fibre offer, then I will be forced from Oct for the next 6 months to pay the 15.40 a month line rental.
That would mean that I am tied to Sky till next April and for the last 6 months pay the high line rental, which I would not be happy to do.

If Sky do re-introduce the upfront line rental and I have that option in Oct, then I would have to take it, otherwise I would have to pay the 15.40 a month, that would however tie me up with Sky till Oct 2015 !!!!

So as you can see, this offer for Sky fibre for me, is a waste of time, it ties me down to Sky in an unfair manner and will force me to either pay 15.40 a month from Oct for 6 months OR if it is available pay the up front line rental.

I am better waiting till Oct and then if this offer is still available, and they are doing up front line rental, make the decision then!

I have informed Sky that this offer is no good for me as it would force me into another 12 month contract, with the last 6 months an unknown quantity of what I will be paying for my line rental, as there is no 12 month upfront option.

So anyone who has paid the upfront line rental with Sky, be careful with this offer, you may end up paying a forced monthly line rental of 15.40!!!!!

I am in the same position as you and likewise may change when line retail runs out

Re: UK ISP Sky Broadband to Drop Superfast Unlimited Fibre Price to GBP7.50

Existing out of contract customers should be able to get this deal as I got 6 months half price last April when the contract for SFU finished. I just mentioned to retentions that it's daft to not allow existing customers to recontract at a lower price when willing to do so when there are better offers out there if Sky are unwilling to make offers applicable to everyone. They saw my point and gave me the half price offer. I'll be trying the same at the end of April when the 12 months are up again.
I find it strange there's been no permanent price adjustment to Sky Fibre products in nearly 2 years on the market. Speedy's comparison table shows how they are essentially milking their customers now .

Given the Openreach increase in costs to LLU providers and talktalk's reciprocal price increase, I very much doubt it will be 15.40 at that time.

Back to OP, existing SFU customers can get 6 months half price on a 12 month re-contract through the Retention option for the time being. (It'll get pulled if it's used too much.)

Spoke to Retentions (I think) - after some discussion I was offered and accepted a deal which was subsequently confirmed by e-mail as "Fibre Pro 10 GBP Off for 12 Months With Line Rental (Recontract) - UK Customers". My longstanding customer status was mentioned during the call ("12 years with Sky" he said, "7 years on Sky BB of which almost 2 years on SFU" I added) and I think may have had some bearing (perhaps, perhaps not). I'm happy with that.

How much was the line rental? Was it an upfront payment for 12 months? Or a reduced monthly amount?
