      Sky's 6 monthly results to 31st December 2013

Sky has today published their 6 monthly results to cover the period up to 31st December 2013.

Results for the six months ended 31 December 2013

      Some of the highlights are:

      Adjusted results1 Statutory results
      Half year 2013/14 2012/13 Variance 2013/14 2012/13 Variance
      Revenue1 3,751m 3,487m +7.6% 3,757m 3,533m +6.3%

      Dividend per share 12.0p 11.0p +9.1% 12.0p 11.0p +9.1%

Pre-tax profits are down. This was expected though.

BBC News - BSkyB's interim profits for 2013 down 9%

HD subscriptions are up. I guess this might confirm that more people are now watching HD TV than before, but do remember too that you need the HD pack in order to be able to access the On Demand library too.

4.4 million Sky+ HD STBs are now connected to the Internet. This is a further increase on the last results. On top of this, the usage of On Demand has increased further still by 3 times (quote from report, I am not sure of the period it is referring to).

Sky Store has also doubled its revenue.

Despite the obvious competition from BT Sport, Sky Sports viewing figures are at their highest for the past 6 years.

Churn also fell and ARPU grew but their unbundled (LLU) network expansion stopped...
