The SR102 is only (currently) sent to *Brand New* ADSL broadband and Fibre broadband customers.
For existing customer with ADSL there is no real difference with the SR101 compared with the SR102 except they will be sent an SR102 if they upgrade to Fibre.
This might be the official line, but a couple of members have received the SR102 instead.

I received the SR102 and I'm an existing customer.

It seems it is a lucky dip, some receive the 101 and some the 102. I expect when they have cleared the stock of 101s everyone will receive a 102.

When they accepted my order ( free ) it was shown next to my sky HD box in my account and it was the black one, maybe a pointer to what you will get.

Hadn't heard this was happening. Might depend on the way it is ordered. Possibly Managers can "Make Sale" on an SR102 and waive the cost but the "Replace Product" option that retention use sends the SR101.

If this isn't the reason then it might just be confusion in the distribution centre.

...and this offer will stop. Since it is "subject to availability".

The hub upgrade isn't advertised so it could be withdrawn at any time but the Wireless booster does require WPS for easy setup so I don't really see this happening.

Re: Sky offers a free wireless booster as well as half price broadband

There is a report that a new firmware for the Sagem 2504N supports IPv6.

I am wondering if it will be easier for Sky to get everyone on to either the Sagem 2504N, SR101 or SR102 and then switch across to IPv6.

Sure they could roll out IPv6 to the older routers, but there could be other issues.

Personally I think that this offer to replace the older WiFi g routers with a new WiFi n router is great. Sure the SR101/SR102 are not top notch routers, but they are better than the Netgear DG834GT, D-Link 2640S, Netgear DG934G, Sagem 2504 and Sagem 2304n.

About a year ago they announced (internally, anyway) that they were moving towards being a One Router business and the free SR101 with re-contract offer was announced.
The implied intention seemed to be that all customer would get the Hub.
Then they removed this offer and brought out a new Hub.
So currently it seems that the intention is to get all customers onto the Hub v2.0 but this will probably get binned in a month or two when someone higher-up decides it's costing too much.
A bit short sighted considering the costs of broadband technical support for all the inferior older routers. And the customer attrition.

I tried to get the wireless booster but the website wouldn't accept the order. It said that I had an old router (Sagem) and would be sent a router instead. Further it then said to try this for one week and if the blackspot is still there then request a wireless booster before end of Feb (not Jan).

Router arrived last weekend and was the SR102. Now able to get rid of the OpenReach modem and have one less box plugged in.

This is correct, although your profile indicates that you had the newest Sagem router.

February 26th is the cut off date for those who get to replace their old routers to get a Booster. End of January is the cut off date for the first part of the offer (i.e. replace the router or get a booster).
