Can I presume that these boxes also retain the Ethernet (LAN) function - just having had the house re-wired to include cat5e cable I'm hoping that thinking of the future that this is merely an addition to the box rather than a replacement for other access?

      Cheers

      Good question.

From my understanding yes they do have a LAN port as well. It is just the RF ports which have been lost, perhaps the rear USB port too.

Re: New Sky+ HD STBs with WiFi

The problem is that previously the link was being advertised everywhere at around 25, now it is priced at anywhere from 35 upwards. Will Sky maintain the 'old' price?

      Good point.

Although i'd hope that with everything else going on in that thread, they've got this information correct...

This seller has more than doubled his price in the last 2 weeks - GLOBAL iO-LINK TVLINK RF OUT REPLICATOR MODULATOR FOR FREESAT FREEVIEW SKY HD | eBay

In my wildest dreams I cannot see how an item like this can cost nearly 80 when it was selling for about 25 a few weeks ago.

If the Sky price is anything like this, there will be an uproar.

The highest I have seen so far is 84.

Sky will be adding it to there store soon and I believe that it will be available for 25 inc. postage & packaging.

That's incredibly good value looking at the price inflation on the other accessories.

      1m HDMI cable 10
      Passive 3D glasses 3.50

      Poundland/Poundworld sell these for 1

      And
      2m Ethernet cable 8?
      5m Ethernet cable 10?

Seriously, Sky should try similar inflation on this adaptor....55 anyone?

Don't encourage them! You can get those same glasses for free at some cinemas!

Update: It has been confirmed that the IO-Link will cost 25. I am waiting for confirmation with regards to what date it will become available.

If you are not interested in paying this price, then please feel free to search for an alternative 'RF Modulator' (12-40). You will also need something to transmit the IR signal (IR Senders are about 20-35) too. These are the two functions which this IO-Link does.
