They were offing a free wifi connector to anyone who took or had movies who had not previously connected to On Demand. I don't know if the offer is still open.

I do not have details about when it will be launched in either Ireland or the UK.

I would expect it to be sent out to all areas once current stocks are depleted.

I called up the other day enquiring about one of these and was told they would be available to buy around the end of September.
I have the current one and would like to free up a plug socket for something else.

Put in for the free wifi connector weeks ago and had no reply yet.

I don't think that Sky has started shipping the Mini WiFi adaptor yet.

I know that mrmt32 has the tools to do it from his listing of the firmware directory tree of the DRX780 at Darwin Root File System - PH-Mb Wiki. Perhaps he, or someone else with the capability, would be so kind as to produce a listing for the latest DR stream firmware for the DRX890 as this should include the name of the kernel module required for the USB WLAN adaptor used in the new mini Wi-Fi adaptor.

Re: New Mini WiFi adaptor from Sky

Now that the new WiFi adaptor can be powered via the USB port on the Sky box, does this mean that other devices can now be powered via the USB port? Has anyone managed to power anything else via the USB port?

I have no requirement for the WiFi adaptor, as I already have my Sky hub connected to the Sky receiver via Ethernet. However, I would like to add a Wireless HDMI sender to my setup & have been looking at the Marmitek Gigaview 821, which is powered via DC 5v. If I purchased a USB to DC cable, would I be able to power the HDMI sender via the USB port on the Sky receiver? Would connecting an Ethernet cable disable the power on the USB port?

Any guidance from anyone who may have tried such a setup would be appreciated
