Sky Movies app now available on Android

Sky is today extending its popular Movies companion app to Sky customers using Android handsets.

The app – which is available to download free of charge – offers film fans a one-stop shop with trailers, synopses and cast list for hundreds of movies currently showing on Sky Movies and Sky Store, as well as the lowdown on films currently showing at the cinema. Sky Movies Pack customers can enjoy movies immediately, on a compatible device within the app, providing access hundreds of blockbusters on demand and 11 channels at no extra cost.

Customers can use the Android version of the app to explore the full list of movies currently showing across Sky’s movie channels, which as of the end of this month will also include the brand new channel, Sky Movies | Disney. Innovative functionality built within the app, means that Sky Movies customers can use their Android handset to record movies to their Sky+ HD box while on the move.

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies said: “A must-have for film fans, the Sky Movies app helps customers explore the fantastic range of movies available for them to enjoy at home or on the move as part of their subscription. The app complements the UK’s most popular film subscription service and forms part of our continued commitment to offer customers ways to discover and enjoy more of the year’s biggest blockbusters than any online film subscription service.”

For more information visit . The Sky Movies app is free to download from Google Play.

Re: Sky Movies app now available on Android

Looks OK-ish on a phone but why do Sky developers seem totally incapable of producing apps for Android which are properly scalable? On my Transformer Prime tablet (only 1280x800) the quality is pathetic.

If they really can't do tablets then they should just say so and not offer it. There is not even any DRM involved here - just bad res poster thumbnails and no landscape view! In fact I wonder what is the point of this so called "app" at all?
