Sky’s new broadband router to deliver the best wireless range of any major provider

Sky Broadband, the UK’s fastest growing broadband service, has unveiled its brand new router, “Sky Hub”, further extending its leadership in in-home connectivity. With a stylish new look and cutting-edge technology, it offers customers a significantly improved range and greater WiFi range around the home and garden,.

The new Sky Hub, which was designed and built by Sky’s in-house engineering team, offers a range of unbeatable features:

Best wireless range of any major provider
The Sky Hub provides the best wireless range of all major ISPs’ routers and lets users get online even further away in the home. This means that customers need no longer worry where the router is located in the home.

      Best signal available
The Hub’s Sky Smart Signal automatically scans for potential interference in the home and then automatically selects the best wireless channel to give the strongest and most reliable connection available. Combined with Sky’s truly unlimited broadband, this means customers will enjoy a totally limitless service, no matter where they are in the home.

      More environmentally friendly
At the same time as delivering a better wireless experience, the new hub is also our greenest yet. It’s new smart power consumption technology means it uses less energy that our previous routers..

      Easier to use
The Sky Hub lets customers get online faster than ever before. Straightforward instructions replace installation CDs and complex instruction manuals, and WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) lets customers add all their family’s compatible laptops, smartphones and tablets securely at the touch of a button, without long codes or passwords. Intuitive, in-built troubleshooting software also lets users resolve most problems themselves.

Part of the complete Sky Broadband experience
The new Sky Hub is just one of the many benefits available to Sky Broadband customers. Sky remains the UK’s fastest growing broadband service and forms part of the UK’s favourite ‘triple play’ of TV, broadband and home phone. As part of the complete Sky experience, Sky is the only ISP to offer a totally unlimited service by promising not to slow down speeds on its network at busy times, with no fair usage policies or data caps.

Sky also leads the way on customer service. Ofcom research has confirmed Sky Broadband offers unbeatable customer satisfaction of any major broadband provider*

And Sky’s Broadband Unlimited, Fibre and Connect customers also benefit from unlimited WiFI in more than 11,000 public WiFi hotspots, through The Cloud. So whether in the home, in the garden, or out and about, Sky customers can enjoy the benefits of unlimited internet access.

Lyssa McGowan, Director of Communications Products at Sky, comments: “Designed and built exclusively for Sky customers, this state-of-the-art router delivers unbeatable wireless range throughout the home meaning customers can get online in parts of their home they couldn’t before. Further enhancing the complete Sky experience, customers will benefit from greater connectivity, whether they’re enjoying Sky Go in the garden, checking Facebook in the bedroom or interacting with zeebox on the sofa.

“Alongside the UK’s only totally unlimited broadband service, free public WiFi and unbeatable customer satisfaction, Sky Broadband goes from strength to strength.”

The new Sky Hub, will come as standard for those customers joining or switching their broadband to Sky from the 18th October. The Sky Hub is worth £69 and is available on an exclusive offer to all existing Sky Broadband customers for £39 for a limited period.

Re: Sky’s new broadband router to deliver the best wireless range of any major provider

I think the new hub is great but there are some drawbacks.. £69 new cost - you can purchase an unbranded hub/router for this price or less and it comes with more features, functionality and the same if not better wireless range. It still only uses 10/100 ports, no USB (therefore no wireless media streaming, wired printer, fax and scanner sharing etc) which almost all routers and hubs come with now.

For a branded router, minus the USB issue it is a fantastically designed product and the claim that it will deliver the best wireless range of any major provider isn't something that is out of its reach. Definitely the best router Sky has released!

      £69 new cost
Thats simply wrong, it is £39 currently with the possibility of it going up to £69 in January.

How do we know that the £69 proper price is actually going to happen?

Its just like the DFS adverts, always on offer, so that people think they are getting a better deal.

I would wait and see what happens in January before the £69 price is touted, when we know for sure. At the moment it is £39 plus £2.18 postage, any cheaper price can be classed as a bargain, ie if you order online, and don't get charged the postage price, as it is doing so at the moment.

Actually, hold the above for now.

People are reporting that those on Fibre are being charged / quoted £69 for the Hub. Whereas those on ADSL are being charged £39 for it.

We have emailed for more clarification and will report back any replies that we get.

Re: Sky’s new broadband router to deliver the best wireless range of any major provider

There is an issue with new hubs and the fibre order as my friend was just told this while placing an order. They should be £39 but showing as £69. If you want to buy the hub they will charge you £69 but a replacement is £39 according to the advisor once the introductory price ends, but even at £39 you can buy a comparable non-corporation branded router in PC World or Curry's. But they don't look as nice as this

The ordering process for Fibre is being corrected, Sky are fully aware of it, and will confirm shortly that those on Fibre should be being charged £39 for the new Hub.

I see thinkbroadband have done a review:
thinkbroadband :: New Sky Broadband Router Reviewed

No great problems, but no great enthusiasm either I think sums it up
      Cheers
