I think that for a lot of people, myself included, 'line rental' is nothing more than an expensive means to an end, viz Broadband. I hardly ever use the landline as my mobile contract is more than enough for my needs, and most people call my mobile too for the same reason. In fact most of the calls to my landline are marketing calls despite TPS!

You are correct. I can forsee a time when 4g becomes widely available, many will have their landline removed. 4g will be expensive to start with, but if you are not paying a line rental, it will look a lot more attractive.

@ Isitme Bring it on! Trouble is, we'll be last in the queue here in the SW. Given the visitor numbers to the SW and the growing expectation of being 'always' online I'm surprised that there isn't more investment.

The trouble is, the more that the SW economy, along with all the other 'desirable destinations', becomes dependent on tourism the less it is seen as a viable investment for anything else - 4G included.

If we believe what we have added to this thread,

      1) You can pay up front if an existing customer
      2) You cannot pay up front if an existing customer
      3) You have to be a new customer
      4) You cannot buy it if a new customer
      5) Sky doesn't do it any more

I would ring again and see if someone else answers and allows you to do so. A few people have done this the last few days.

What number did you call? If you did not use it, try 08442 411 818.
