      Or are they?
That would effectively mean an extra 5 on top of the line rental for most people.
I suspect it will be like old mobile phone tariffs - those already on it can stay on it forever or until they change to a different one, but once they change to a different one then they can never go back to the old one. So, after it comes into effect, upgrading from Freetime to Anytime would mean the subsequent downgrade would be from Anytime to Weekends.

A bit like the tv sub then.

Aside from the recent 1.50 increase, everybody's still paying whatever they used to, prior to 1/9/11 when the standard channels were split into 6 categories.

I'm quite surprised they did that.

It's certainly a good answer to those that say "why no deals for existing customers?"

Got a letter confirming this today. They are letting you leave without contract penalties though.

The snag is, people have to have line rental for the Sky Broadband side of things, I would doubt very many people would actullay leave, even without any penalties, as they would then have to change broadband suppliers. History shows, that people prefer an easy life with no hassle, so therefore would probably just accept the rises.

Of course there is a way of saving money if people want to, they can pay a year up front, @ 119.40 for 12 months line rental. This works out at 9.95 per month - BT put their rental up soon, and to pay a year upfront with them, is 129 or 10.75 per month iirc - But we have no idea if Sky's annual payment will increase once the line rental does though.
