Thanks for your input though, I always enjoy comments from people like yourself.

      Peace.
Your line rental price will increase from the 1st of December, the post relating to the 1st of September is in relation to the price increases for Sky TV, hence the section regarding whether Sky Talk or Sky Broadband will increase. You just spent hours talking to someone who has probably just recited the usual chatter to price increase complainers to keep them quiet, because they are right - your line rental hasnt increased, yet.

whilst im sure everyone knows now, the sky line rental is going to increase from Nov/Dec. I got the letter this week.
im not happy about it. every year they always increase either the TV price or the line price. its getting expensive....
i obviously wont get a nice free upgrade to a sky+ 2TB box. I also dont have an HDTV (nor do I need it).... :-/ still, the new boxes seem nice and full of features.

Re: Sky Line Rental Increases For Existing Customers From December?

I joined Sky about a month ago only to be told of the price rise now.
The contract allows early termination without charge if they raise 'Sky Broadband Payment' by more than 10%. This is mentioned in clause 11 (c) (ii) of my Sky Broadband and Sky Talk Terms and Conditions. Clause 11 (b) b then allows me to escape the early termination charge.
What isn't clear is whether the 'Line Rental' increase is the same as a 'Sky Broadband Payment' increase. Im waiting for a reply to my second email to Sky for confirmation. I fear they are different, and so the contract is inescapable, and soon to follow will be a 10% increase in BB prices too. It's quite a slimy way of extracting money from us.
The links people have mentioned about existing customers not having the price rise have been removed.

Re: Sky Line Rental Increases For Existing Customers From December?

I took out Sky Talk Unlimited last year and was paying 12.25 + 5 a month.

Emailed Sky about the yearly line rental and got a call back:

Just paid 119.40 for the line rental for a year and was told that I would be saving from Dec 1st 4.55 a month.
And I was told that the 14.50 would appear on my bill and a credit of 14.50 would be applied. 5 for Sky Talk Unlimited would be paid monthly as is the case now.
Also I was told that I could pay the line rental up front same time next year, although they could not promise that the line rental would not increase.

So instead of the next 12 months costing me 174, it has cost me 119.40.

      Cannot complain at all!

Fully agree. You could have held off for a couple of months and saved a few more quid, but with the rise pending they may suspend this offer at any time. You will not get phone rental cheaper anywhere now. Glad I signed up when I did.

My bill for this month which covers till Nov 20th has already been created, so it will be the next billing period, Nov 20th to Dec 20th which will see the credit of almost 14.25 applied.
So I should be okay for almost the max savings I could have saved.

And as you say, Sky may suspend this offer or/and more likely increase the annual line rental from Dec 1st onwards.
