Switch off at mains, hold backup button then switch back on and don't release backup button until all the lights on the front of the box come on and you will see on screen that it is upgrading.

Takes around 10 minutes. Don't interfere with the process.

Just forced upgraded another box i have without a card. The message states you do not have sky+ entitlement so this service is not available. So the answer to my question is no .I did suspect this as all the on demand content has to be downloaded onto the hard drive unlike Tivo and other devices .

If you are interested, then something like the D-Link Boxee (under 130 now) would probably be a good choice to get various on-line players made available to that 2nd TV. It will need to be a HD TV though.

Another option to consider would be a Freesat+ STB. Then you could also record the TV content when it is broadcast. Some also have access to the BBC iPlayer. I'm not too sure what else they offer.
