Not entirely on topic but I just thought I would mention that my Android Sky Go app updated last night and the "Anytime" service is now called "On Demand".

Re: Catch Up TV On Your EPG Very Soon

We do have some more information on this, but will hold off publishing for the time being. Purely because a couple of external Beta Testers are slightly worried that the info may stop them from being allowed to stay on the programme.

I would like to repeat as before, none of the information that we have received has come from any external Beta Testers, they have stuck to the NDA with Sky.

Pleased to see that Skyuser has confirmed that members on the beta testing programme have observed Sky's request for confidentiality.

If you look at the pic which is used on the Sky website to encourage people to sign up for their appreciation/support of the forthcoming Catch up TV service, you will see that this new title is used there too.

Until all the Sky+ HD STBs get updated to the newer EPG (later than 49.22 even) there will be some who will refer to the service as 'Anytime+', whilst others will start referring to it as 'On Demand'.

When the next firmware release is made for the DRX890 and DRX895 STBs, there will be a few extra features added too.

I still have no news available for owners of the DRX780, DRX595, Samsung and Pace STBs. Of course if someone does hear something before me, please feel free to post it on the forum, but for now you are still using the pre-Picasso firmware.

We get loads of info, and we normally post it in Area51 for the mods / admin to read, before we publish anything at all. Anything that I have discussed in there with pictures etc have never once come from any external Beta Testers, and some information was even there before the external ones had seen it or even read about it. Obviously we don't publish every rumour, only on multiple confirmations from the sources that supply the information.

I know a couple of external Beta Testers were concerned, and I also read the thread on DS today, before it was pulled, in fact I even backed the Beta Testers up on there, that had been compromised by the ones that are external, and had posted about Catch Up TV

Therefore we will hold back on the info so as to show that the external ones can be trusted. The information is definitely not coming from them people. It is a good thing what Sky are doing, by including their customers, so it seems pointless for us to destroy that trust and hinder any future testings opportunities.

Re: Catch Up TV On Your EPG Very Soon

A similar experience is occurring with the Sky Hub. Although the Beta Testers have now been given a green light to discuss it openly, there are a few specific areas which we still cannot discuss on the forum.

The true benefit as I see it has been the helpful comments by those involved to help debug the products before they are released to everyone else. For those who remember the issues surrounding the Darwin upgrades for the DRX780 and Thomson STBs or the issues surrounding the Sagem 2304n router, I think that the lessons have been learnt and Sky has made huge strides in opening up the beta testing to non-Sky employees.

A number of small issues have been picked up which just would not have been seen without a huge team watching various STBs at Sky. Although we may have the same STBs, with all the different options, channels and viewing habits, it would be a huge undertaking to pick up all the potential problems. The latest beta version does appear to be working much more smoothly and has far fewer issues.

Another useful topic on the beta forums have been the various suggestions made. It would be unsuitable for me to mention them here, but it they are all included over the next year or two, then your viewing will be much more improved. Some of the ideas are not that new, but I think it is the level of feedback which may help to stear future development faster.

Its definitely a wise move by Sky for sure, the more channels for input the better.

BTW - There is some info in Area51 that the external Beta Testers are unaware of Scubbie. Just to hammer the point home that the external ones have not broken their silence.

I know, I have seen and responded.

I know that the pics in this thread came from another source too. The could not have come from the Beta Testers.

Here's another sneak picture. This came from the same source as the original pictures.
