When you delete a program it stays on the hdd and appears in the deleted tab. However the space is no longer reserved on the hdd and shows as free space. When your new recording eat up where the deleted recording is, then it will disappear from the deleted tab.

I think it just stores any deleted programmes in the background, so in essence, it doesn't really delete them at all.
Then you can retrieve them if you make a mistake.
It will only delete them fully from your STB when you run out of disk space.

Ah I see ok. So even if you delete it, the space frees up and new recordings will overwrite whats there. Cool.

Yes, so even when you delete a show it will still be there in the deleted menu untill you remove it from there

It will still be there until you remove it or new recordings need the space in which case the oldest deleted program will be permanetly removed to make way for the new recording.
