Just got off the phone to them (had a fault with Anytime+ so needed to call anyway), and the CS confirmed that according to his book/system they do have upfront line rental available at 129 a year (equivalent to 10.75 per month), although he was surprised there was no mention of it on the Sky website, nor did he know how you could pay/order it!

I'll give them a call in March and sort it out then.

It is on the website but it's tucked away in a quiet corner. Also it must have recently had a price increase - I paid 119.40 (equivalent to 9.95 per month) a few weeks ago.

Very quiet, I can't find it anywhere!

I've found some posts about it on the Sky Help Forum such as this one and this one, which seem to indicate that it is available, sometimes, depending on who you speak to!

What I did notice though is everywhere on the website does refer to the new Line Rental charge of 14.50.

That also was part of the brief we received, as from today, it has to be made clear etc so Sky are just backing up the message I guess.

I would imagine the cheaper line rental if paid a year upfront is less chance for profit for Sky?

      Re: Sky Line Rental Changes

i think this price upgrade and removing the evening calls is a farce , sky showing how GREEDY they are, previously the 12.25 was very competitive and cheaper than the other 'BIG' providers who also offer eve+w.end in their prices - now they are amongst the most expensive and only offer w.end for free calls - seeing as they turned over more than $1BILLION in profits last year alone I think it shows bad form to increase prices - now people will be more tempted to turn to Talk Talk or BT for cheaper and better telephone services.

all this will do is slow down the increase of new sky customers - exactly what they should be trying to avoid!

they have traded in long term investment for quick profits (when clearly they arent 'skint' and in need of fast money)

if I wasnt already with sky I certainly wouldnt be considering them now.

      rant over!

LOL - If you believe that for one minute, then best of luck.

Sky are a very successful company, who invest heavily and have innovated a whole lot more than others, people will stop signing up to Sky in their millions, just like people don't buy Apple products.

They haven't put up prices for the last 2 years, exisiting customers will see no increase, so on your logic, Sky have missed a trick and could be coining it in even more, if they increased our subscriptions.

Any company that invests, runs itself well, and has a great product range, one that cannot be matched by any other company, can do what they want. It is really quite simple, we either pay for it or we go elsewhere and get a substandard service. That would show Sky wouldn't it?

For new customers, not existing ones. Calm down, it's only a business.
