Sky and Talk Talk Reach Agreement for Wholesale Distribution of Sky Channels

Sky and Talk Talk have concluded a commercial agreement that will see Talk Talk offer its customers a wide range of Sky’s entertainment, sports and movies channels on its YouView service later this year. The deal will allow Talk Talk to offer an extensive pay TV service to its customers while allowing Sky to extend the reach of its channels to more pay TV households and to grow its content related revenues.

The agreement will see a wide range of standard definition channels become available through Talk Talk on a wholesale basis. These channels include Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Arts 1 & 2, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4, Sky Sports F1 and the full suite of Sky Movies channels. In addition to the live linear channels, in time Talk Talk customers will be able to access a comprehensive selection of bonus subscription video-on-demand content through Sky Anytime.

The channels will be available via Talk Talk’s YouView service and will be delivered over broadband. Sky’s new internet TV service, NOW TV, will also be available.

Rob Webster, Director of Sky’s Commercial Group, comments: “We are delighted to extend the distribution of our channels and to reach even more UK homes. As we continue to increase our investment in high-quality pay TV content, we want to achieve as broad a distribution as possible and grow our content related revenues. Following the conclusion of our successful negotiation with Talk Talk, we look forward to its customers enjoying the opportunity to subscribe to some of Sky’s best content.”

Max Alexander, Managing Director of TV, TalkTalk, adds: “Adding the line-up of Sky channels to our YouView service is great news for our customers. Being able to offer a range of the most popular premium channels with the flexibility of being able to purchase content one month at a time is going to be hugely popular with our base and offers a great value addition to our YouView service:

Talk Talk customers had previously been able to subscribe to some Sky channels directly through Sky’s ‘Sky by Wire’ service. These customers will migrate to Talk Talk’s pay TV service.

Re: Sky and Talk Talk Reach Agreement for Wholesale Distribution of Sky Channels

Years ago NTL would have drawn up some form of an agreement with Sky to show channels such as Sky 1, Sky Sports, etc. I see nothing too different here other than the actual delivery method.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
