Demand 5 to launch on Anytime+

Sky has today announced that Channel 5's catch-up TV service Demand 5 will launch on its TV platform later in the year.

The satellite broadcaster said that Sky customers will be able to head to Anytime+ to catch up on shows such as Big Brother, The Mentalist, documentary strand Revealed and the highly anticipated 21st Century Dallas.

Sky has recently been making big strides to improve the quality of its catch-up television offering on Anytime+, the video on-demand service delivered over an internet connection.

Alongside Demand 5, the on-demand services of the BBC (iPlayer) and ITV (ITV Player) will also arrive on Anytime+ later in the year, enabling Sky customers to catch up on the main broadcaster's content without needing to specifically set recordings.

This means that Sky will soon be able to offer on-demand content from all the main UK public service broadcasters, apart from Channel 4, which has so far not agreed a deal to launch its 4oD service.

Delivered over broadband, Sky Anytime+ is available in all Sky+ HD homes with an internet connection, and is currently attracting more than a million active users, according to Sky.

Good news, we just need 4OD on there as well to complete the line up although I have a feeling that they will be missing when it does launch

We'd picked up on the possibility of Demand Five on the Beta forum, but no hints about 4oD at present.

Certainly the catch up and on demand services will be a nice addition to the Sky capabilities. I had been toying with the idea of purchasing a D-Link Boxee, but if 4oD is added, I don't think that there is a reason for me to do this now.
