This is a product we are currently trialing with a group of customers at the moment. However it isn't quite ready for general release yet as we aim to test and iron out any gremlins before we launch this.

Maybe I could ask to join that "group of customers", I do enjoy a bit of beta testing and I'm very experienced with technology.

PS: found an interesting page: www . skyhub . net.

That URL don't belong to Sky as such though

      SkyHub.net - SkyHub

      So maybe a red herring.

Even the .com version doesn't. Not to say that they won't buy it though.

      SkyHub.com - Sky Hub

      Same for the .co.uk one.

Normally if Sky register or own a domain it is registered by Markmonitor.com as in this one

Using the 'Whois' database, that site is not owned by BSkyB. I would not recommend that you visit it as it could be a nasty hoax.

There are some issues at the moment with the current Beta firmware that we are using. I would therefore suggest that there would be too man complaints if it were rolled out to everyone on Monday morning.

Yes it looks nice and sexy, performs well and is quite different in some ways to the existing Sky routers.

However if anyone should need a functioning N rated Sky router today, then the Sagem 2504N will be just fine.

I'll admit I did look at the WHOIS info before posting and it does look somewhat suspect (the owner with their gmail.com address and all).

I guess there is always the chance that those domains will be bought by Sky, it would make sense.

All depends how much Sky want them. I know in the past they wanted one for a staff intranet etc but the guy held out thinking he could get more and Sky just changed the name in the end. Not that they could change the name of the hub though.

They do charge if out of warranty, unless you can shout loudly (threaten to cancel, etc.). My original Sagem died a few weeks ago and it cost 35 to replace with a 2504N. However, A polite email to the nice Mr Darroch's office did get me 25% off my Sky sub for 6 months to compensate.

So you guessed then? I thought as much! And there was me thinking you worked in the Finance Department at BSKYB...

Well as we are guessing I would suggest that the retail price is irrelevant and that Sky are probably paying no more than 10 - 15 per router to buy in, possibly less. Let's add another 5 for postage and processing costs and call it 20 a unit just to be safe, or 75 Million based on your figures to replace every box.

A great deal of money sure but a drop in the ocean for Sky and there maybe more long term benefits from having everyone on the same router. I guess we will have to wait and see, besides, whatever they offer some will still use their own router regardless!

I'm certainly not paying for any router unless it has dual band and gigabit ethernet, things which I'm told are not features of this new hub.
